THEME

Unlike previous years, there is no given theme for entries in across all three categories in FDA 2009 - Students, Young Designers and Open. Participants are given free reign with their furniture creations.

CATEGORIES

Students Category
Open to full-time students from educational institutions in ASEAN countries ( Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam)

Young Designers Category
Open to participants from the Asia Pacific region, aged 35 years and below as of 1 March 2009

Open Category
Open to participants from all over the world, on a company basis, with entries that have been manufactured and launched commercially in the market.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Students Category

Creativity – 40%
Marketability – 30%
Functionality – 30% (includes environmental-friendliness, ergonomics and function)

*Equal weightage for ALL CRITERIA under Young Designers & Open Category

FDA Grand Award:
S$6,000 cash, a trophy and an award certificate

FDA Honorable Mention Award:
S$1,000 cash, a trophy and an award certificate

FDA Merit Awards:
A trophy and an award certificate



Open Category

FDA Grand Award:
S$2,000 cash, a trophy and an award certificate

FDA Honorable Mention Award:
A trophy and an award certificate

Best Use of Material Award:
A trophy and an award certificate
(only 1 winner will be selected among the three categories)
