Sitra scores several turnkey project contracts with new SBU ‘Total Design & Build Solutions’

2009 ended on a sweet note for Sitra Holdings (International) Limited, an international producer of integrated wood-based products and turnkey services.  Total Design & Build Solutions, a new strategic business unit (SBU) of the company, managed to secure several turnkey design-and-build contracts, with the single largest being with the Marina Bay precinct, worth S$3.24 million.

Total Design & Build Solutions offers a comprehensive range of services ranging from design and manufacture to final installation and the commissioning of in-house designed prefabricated decking systems using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified products. Mr George Chew, Executive Chairman and CEO of Sitra said, “Total Design & Build Solutions is a culmination of our strategic efforts to complete a value chain of products and services. Today, our new SBU is able to garner several contracts in a short span of time because we offer proven quality, design capabilities and the manufacturing know-how, coupled with clear, responsible forestry and sourcing initiatives.”

In addition to a complete value chain of services, Sitra’s responsible forestry certification will be of particular interest to its customers, who are project owners aiming to  achieve recognition for sustainable development via schemes such as the Building and Construction Authority (BCA)’s Green Mark.

“The future of this industry will be underpinned by transformative offerings like our Total Design & Build Solutions, which delivers quality, value and flexibility in service together with environmentally-responsible products. Therefore, I am confident that a vibrant future awaits the new SBU as we have a very coherent and proactive strategy built on solid foundations,” Mr Chew concluded.

Through these iconic projects garnered today, Total Design & Build Solutions plans to further target commercial, residential and public infrastructure projects both in Singapore and overseas. In addition, Sitra intends to gradually develop this capability across its direct subsidiaries in Cambodia, Dubai, France, New Zealand and Ukraine in the coming year.

Ewins obtains worldwide distributorship for world’s first ‘Medical Device’ ergonomic chair

Singapore Mozaic Ambassador, Ewins Pte Ltd, is introducing the world’s first innovative ergonomic chair, registered and classified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a ‘Medical Device’. Debuting in Singapore, Ewins aims to achieve better comfort and health in every workplace through this product.

In today’s increasingly technological world, professionals spend long hours seated at their desk on chairs that mostly lack proper support. This leads to a number of health problems, such as poor blood circulation, prostate disorders and hemorrhoid inflammation. Recognising the need for better comfort and health, Ewins brought in the Hara Chair which has an ergonomic solution designed to meet the support needs of its user.  With a split base allowing for greater weight distribution, it relieves strain on major joints and muscles as well as helps increase both air circulation and blood flow. Its base and back are also customisable for additional support and comfort.
Appointed as the official worldwide distributor, Ewins will also be showcasing the Hara Chair at its booth 6D-92 during the International Furniture Fair Singapore 2010/ 27th ASEAN Furniture Show from 9 – 12 March.

For more information about the product, please contact Ewins Pte Ltd at +65 6459 3311 or ewins@singnet.com.sg.
