Home-Grown Laminate Brand takes the lead in the region

Leading home-grown laminate company, TAK Products & Services (TAK), has elevated industry standards through its recent rebranding. With the unveiling of the company’s new logos, TAK has also positioned itself as a world-class lifestyle solutions provider, offering a holistic array of brands instead of just products, to bring choice and inspiration to the rest of the world.

Established in 1989, TAK, a Singapore Mozaic Ambassador, is poised to strengthen its market position in the region with offices in Thailand, Malaysia and China, as well as a significant presence in the Philippines and Indonesia. “With the recent expansion in the region, we saw that TAK was able to fill in the gaps of the laminates industry sector. With strong support from our business partners and consumers, we were able to drive the brand and its product offerings. With ever changing moving market trends and our desire to continue to be the market leader, TAK needs to be able to meet the needs of our business partners and consumers,” said Andrew Tan, Chairman of TAK.

TAK has grown to become the market leader it is today with the group’s expected turnover of approximately SGD 30 million in 2010 for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. While the percentage increase varies across the different markets in 2009, TAK’s turnover is expected to be up by 20%, 35% and 40% in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand respectively in 2010, with Singapore remaining TAK’s biggest market. TAK’s immediate plan is to complete the rebranding strategy across all offices and distributors.

Helming the regional growth and expansion is Geraldine Tan, Executive Director. “TAK has come a long way since its founding. The company underwent a major brand overhaul in 2009, which we are now communicating to our target markets,” explains Ms Tan, who is also Andrew Tan’s only daughter amongst his three children. “Being the second generation in this family business, we will continue to excite our markets with interesting and premium high pressure laminate designs. TAK is all about the inspiration of spaces, and learning about the exciting and fascinating possibilities our products create.”

The celebration of its new branding on 23 April 2010 at the red dot design museum also showcased TAK’s surfaces lifestyle and proprietary brand, Lamitak. Lamitak’s latest laminates collection creates distinction through its details and offers an array of textured surfaces to select from – from solid colours to wood grains and patterns. A TAK brand since 2001, Lamitak designs dress up empty spaces to create different personalities, or change the perspectives of a room. The new interesting tone and texture offerings in the Lamitak 2010 collection were conceived through muses and themes such as Boogie Wonderland and Eclectic Attic. Lamitak laminates conform to international standards for abrasion and fire resistance while making them affordable and durable. Lamitak also offers various finishings including Suede, Textured, Glossy and DRI-Matt – a new laminate finish exclusive to Lamitak that provides a zero-reflection surface.

TAK also has its very own edgeband solution named Newedge, which offers matching looks for Lamitak’s exclusive collection in colour, design and even surface finish. In addition, this home-grown laminate business has exclusive distribution rights for Nevamar Decorative Surfaces and Alpikord Prefinished veneers.
