| Singapore Mozaic hands in stellar report card |
| |
Since its inaugural launch last year, the Singapore Mozaic brand has travelled around the world, making an impact at overseas trade shows, missions as well as through local and foreign media placements and publicity programmes.
To date, Singapore Mozaic has achieved promising results at various internationally- acclaimed trade shows such as Index Dubai 2008, imm cologne 2009, Salone Internazionale del Mobile in 2008 and 2009 and not forgetting our homegrown show, IFFS/AFS 2009. Participation in these international trade shows has garnered a total of S$10.1 million worth of spot orders and an estimated S$109.2 million worth of follow-on sales for the next 12 months. |

SFIC and FederlegnoArredo (FLA), the Italian Federation of Wood, Cork, Furniture and Furnishing Industries and owner of the prestigious Milan Furniture Fair, also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in September 2009. With this MOU, SFIC will work together with FLA to facilitate collaborations and “match-make” suitable Singapore and Italian furniture companies that possess capabilities which complement each other’s businesses. SFIC and FLA will also link companies up with compatible furniture designers or even architects to jointly undertake projects in Asia, Europe and internationally.
Individually, our Singapore Mozaic ambassadors have also fared well. Koda Ltd collaborated with Italian designer, Luigi Garbarino, to roll out the Asolo collection at this year’s Milan International Furniture Fair and manged to seal fruitful orders, opening doors to new markets in Italy, Middle East and United Kingdom. Sitra Holdings Limited also expanded its reach overseas through setting up a joint venture company in August 2009 to pioneer its new concept store MOS, the “Modelled On Singapore” brand. This is its first showcase in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital and the company targets to replicate this concept in five other cities in Ukraine in the near future. Haleywood Industries Pte Ltd spots a fresh look when it launched its new logo at the furniture show in Shanghai in September 2009. An industry veteran in producing furniture for European market, it undertook a re-branding exercise in line with the company’s new business directions. Its refreshed identity and new range of dining tables were all well-received at the show. |

| Despite the success stories, Singapore Mozaic is not resting on its laurels. Once again, this unique Singapore furniture industry brand has embarked on the international trade shows circuit with the recent Index Dubai 2009. During the four-day show, Singapore Mozaic ambassadors such as Eurosa Furniture Co (Pte) Ltd, Getz Bros & Co (Singapore) Pte Ltd, Harvest Link International Pte Ltd, Koda Ltd, Lorenzo International Ltd, MLC Marketing Pte Ltd and Richin Furniture Décor Pte Ltd exhibited at the Singapore Pavilion. Despite the worldwide recession, the contingent managed to achieve a total of S$600,000 with additional deals valued at S$2,100,000 still under negotiation. New business leads established during the fair are expected to generate follow-on sales of S$26,950,000 over the next 12 months. |

| Mr Andrew Ng, President of SFIC, said: “This is Singapore Mozaic’s second year at Index Dubai and we are very happy with the results achieved. We met with a number of international buyers who are looking for quality, well-designed furniture at competitive pricing and our Singapore companies are able to deliver this and more. Through the new business leads and relationships forged at Index Dubai, we hope to further penetrate the market in the Middle East and also develop international exports." |
