FL!P Challenge Winners
Designers, architects and related
industry players gathered for an enriching evening
with the speakers, Mr Michael Snow, Executive
Director of American Hardwood Export Council and
Professor Seth Stem from Rhode Island School of
Design at the Design Seminar jointly organised
by SFIC and AHEC. The seminar was held at Sheraton
Towers on 30 November 2007. Topics such as the
environmental credentials of wood as well as how
to use the properties of US hardwoods were discussed.
The two and a half hours session has equipped
participants with useful tips on the hardwood
resources, species and sustainability issues.

Designing Furniture in American
Hardwoods, a workshop jointly organized by American
Hardwood Export Council and Singapore Furniture
Industries Council, was concluded a great success
on 21 August 2007. Held at Nanyang Academy of
Fine Arts, the workshop was attended by over 80
students from various design institutions.
The students had a fruitful
and edifying afternoon with the speaker, Mr Michael
Buckley, Director of Turnstone Communications
Pte Ltd, where he discussed on topics relating
to the characteristics of different American Hardwood
species, designing with American Hardwoods as
well as the global market for American Hardwoods.
