Welcoming new members to the SFIC Family

SFIC’s membership programme extends beyond the furniture and furnishings trade.

Close to 20 members from the Contract Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Retail, Design and Supporting Industries clusters have joined the SFIC family this year.

Homegrown furniture and homeware brand SCENE SHANG is a (stylish) example. Offering affordable handcrafted furniture that rework Chinese design aesthetics and elements into contemporary furniture design, it aspires to create meaningful furniture that will help craft new stories to be passed on through the generations as treasured memories and family heirlooms. A familiar face, the up-and-coming label had participated in past editions of SingaPlural and is also one of the brands under FLAUNT, an SFIC e-commerce initiative that was launched this year.

The SFIC ecosystem is getting more vibrant with the addition of more tech players, with the latest one being MixGo, an Augmented Reality (AR) company that allows product visualisation in 3D. A pioneer company in Singapore which integrates AR Technology into the furniture industry, MixGo enables customers to shop and visualize 3D furniture in real time on its website and mobile app. Trade customers can also customise their AR mobile applications according to their business requirements.

For new member Sensational Express, joining SFIC is a no-brainer. The logistics player has over 10 years of experience in logistics services specialising in servicing Furniture businesses. Making its debut, as it were, at SFIC’s 36th AGM recently, the company presented on its end-to-end logistics solutions at the invitation of the council.

Platforms such as SFIC’s annual dinner and dance event offer a ready opportunity to meet fellow members. A well attended event that include government guests, it is one of the best ways to network and rub shoulders with the entire SFIC family over sumptuous food and drinks. One way to make an impression is to be a prize sponsor and Makita Singapore certainly did. Incorporated in 1983, the Japanese wholesaler and distributor of electric power tools and related accessories has generously sponsored its latest vacuum and power tool products as lucky draw prizes. From an electric motor sales and repair company since 1915, Makita Corporation has grown to become Japan’s top manufacturer of portable power tools and recognized leader globally.

The council takes pride in its business matching services and have successfully paired multiple companies and members along the way. Collaborations, as everyone knows, are the way forward. It is encouraging to see members from different clusters come together to work on projects that are a win-win for all parties. Designers in particular have benefited via the SingaPlural platform where their creative ideas breathe life into materials and the like.

From monthly seminars to overseas trade missions, a slew of activities await the SFIC member, one just need to pick and choose the best platforms that suit their needs. For more information on our membership programme, click here
