In hot and humid Singapore, having a well-ventilated space is not a luxury.

Aside from air conditioners and air coolers that can chalk up hefty electrical bills, having energy efficient fans are gradually becoming a popular alternative.

For homeowners who place a premium on home décor, their options are often limited given that most traditional ceiling fans are bulky in design and prioritises function over form. This problem is especially pronounced in shoebox apartments where such fans seem oversized and are generally incompatible with the overall decor.

A local firm started in 2016 believes that ceiling fan customers need not compromise on their aesthetic needs and they may just have the perfect solution.

Mr Aaron Teo, Decor Fan Singapore’s Business Development Manager and founder of the firm, wasted no time in the research and development in more bio-organic designs. His investment has started to bear fruit, with an ever growing customer base and great interest garnered through its showcase at the SingaPlural 2019 design event, which marked the young company’s third milestone.

Décor Fan Singapore’s exhibit “Autumn” was a hit with visitors, earning it a photo spot on the Straits Times’ coverage of the Singapore Design Week 2019 at its March opening.

Conceptualised by Ms Celine Ng, the founder of Fraction Design Studio, ‘’Autumn’’ is a-minute long experiential exhibit, which allows visitors to experience ‘Autumn foliage’ in Singapore with the aid of a set of Virtual Reality (VR) goggles. By doing a 360-degree turn while lifting their hands and brushing against the pinwheels, visitors experience a feeling akin to the rustling of leaves. At the same time, a waft of maple and cinnamon scents are diffused into the air while a gentle to strong breeze is created with the use of Decor Fan Singapore’s latest smart-ready fans.

Says Aaron, “Autumn is special as it represents the very roots of our inspirations with nature inspired designs. It marks the harvest of our innovations with the fusion of advanced material innovations, and bio organic designs that blends into spaces seamlessly like pretty paint, on your white ceiling canvas. Also, we are thrilled to be working with a local product designer and sharing it with a thriving community of talent in our local design scene.” Design enthusiasts will appreciate Décor Fan’s sleek product offerings – from modern neutral black hues targeting minimalists to Scandinavian earth tones that will appeal to environmentalists.

These fans can be purchased via its online store, which also allows its ever growing community of “fans” to share reviews and pictures of their beautifully decorated homes. Marketers like nothing better than free publicity via word of mouth from satisfied customers that inspire other like-minded potential customers and on Décor Fan’s website, there are no lack of glowing testimonials. For customers more inclined to get up close with the fans at its showroom, the website provides an opportunity for users to pre-select their item(s) before making a trip.

According to Aaron, what sets Decor Fan Singapore apart is the consistent pursuit of purpose built designs, to suit each individual client’s preference. Inspired from the study of nature dynamic forms, its latest range of decor fans boasts aerodynamic sleek contours that ensures silent operation, in a variety of four weather resistant textured layers, across six flexible sizing options to choose from.

This is achieved through one of the many research and development initiatives being embarked upon, driving the company towards the forefront of technological innovations. Utilising the precision of advanced robotics manufacturing, a higher tensile composite aluminium material enables an even weight distribution across its structural load, increasing its durability and performance through increased wind velocity in a space. In addition, its lighter and sleeker profile aids for a more energy efficient ceiling fan than its counterparts in the market.

An ever growing portfolio of collaborations lies deep within its core vision to innovate collectively. Decor Fan Singapore aims to work with more creatives, harnessing the potential of the local market scene and expanding its reach towards emerging markets in the Asia Pacific region.

This marks the beginning of a new era for Decor Fan Singapore, to embark onwards a journey towards growing an ever evolving range of fans providing form and function, across a global audience.

Like its SingaPlural 2019 exhibit, it hopes to innovate beyond the boundaries of the theme “Unnatural Phenomenon”.
