The best airport in the world recently opened its newest Terminal, T4 to the public on 31 October this year.

Boasting a facial recognition system that captures a passenger’s photo at different stations, centralised security screening, as well as start-to-end self-service options for check-in and other processes, Changi Airport’s T4 terminal is a gleaming metaphor for innovation. The tech no doubt impresses but visitors to Changi’s T4 are also in for a visual treat.

A special garden showcasing the unique integration of nature and technology houses an impressive 6m-high centrepiece.  The creative force behind the installation is none other than SFIC member Kingsmen, which has over the years amassed a formidable portfolio from  designing and building designer boutiques and exhibition spaces around the globe.

Steel in Bloom, as the structure is called, juxtaposes a towering, organically shaped steel structure with botanical motifs and living plants that inspired its form, creating a thought-provoking hybrid display that depicts both synergy and contrast between man-made and biological elements.

The garden also features a mesmerizing light show that makes full use of the sculpture’s intricate form to create a dynamic visitor experience. The end product is an engaging and visually-arresting showpiece that is a fitting introduction to the terminal’s unique characteristics, while creating a novel garden experience as a key rest point for visitors within T4’s retail area.

Kingsmen has certainly come a long way since it first set up shop in a terrace house in Balestier in 1976 and had just celebrated its 40th anniversary last year. Offering end-to-end solutions for temporary and permanent exhibitions, theme parks and attractions, as well as retail and corporate interiors, Kingsmen’s clientele is a heady mix of brands from  Tiffany & Co. to Universal Studios Singapore.

According to its (Group Managing Director of  Kingsmen Exhibits) Mr Anthony Chong,  while there are companies in the industry that specialise in some of these disciplines, only a handful can deliver quality and service across all disciplines at an international level and Kingsmen is among the best of them. A complete end-to-end solution means research, design development, management, fabrication and  after-sales service.
