OCTOBER 2017 FEATURE:

China trade fairs at their best

The Singapore Pavilion welcomes a steady stream of visitors including the Lamitak booth shown here.

Industry players targeting the Chinese market gear themselves up each September.

Two key trade fairs — Furniture China (FC) and China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) dominate the calendars of exhibitors and buyers. And it’s not hard to see why.

As one of the world’s leading B2B trade fairs, over 100,000 participants are involved in FC every year since its inception over two decades ago. The 2017 edition occupies a sprawling 300,000 sqm exhibition area, inclusive of 19 entire halls and 15 outdoor pavilions. Over 2,300 furniture exhibitors showcase their new products to professional trade buyers from the globe. With a focus on high-end furniture manufacturing, the thematic exhibition areas Furniture Manufacturing & Supply China (FMC China) and FMC Premium (FMP) cover a large variety of furniture raw materials and components manufacturers for furniture production needs.

The Singapore Pavilion at Furniture China 2017 led by SFIC brought together 11 leading brands such as:

  • BL Packaging Pte Ltd
  • Eurosa Furniture Co (Pte) Ltd
  • Haleywood Industries Pte Ltd
  • Home of Homes Furniture Pte Ltd
  • Koda Ltd
  • Natuzz Ohme Pte Ltd
  • Platform Living LLP
  • Platform Pte Ltd
  • Star Furniture Group
  • TAK Products and Services Pte Ltd
  • Wayco International Pte Ltd

Not to be upstaged, CIFF Shanghai covers 400,000 sqm with over 2,000 brands from the upstream and downstream industry participating from various sectors including home furniture, homedecor, hometextile, outdoor furniture, office furniture, commercial furniture, hotel furniture, furniture machinery and raw materials.

Singapore brands present at CIFF Shanghai include HTL International Holdings Pte Ltd and Commune Lifestyle Pte Ltd. Distinctive while complementary, different sectors in CIFF form a synergy to interpret the latest trends and provide eye-catching exhibits and designs. Expected visitor numbers exceed 90,000 international trade visitors. Its 40th edition features the theme of “Better Life, Better Work” using the entire space of National Exhibition & Convention Centre (Shanghai•Hongqiao).

HTL International Holdings Pte Ltd Director Mr Phua Boon Huat, who is also SFIC Vice President, was pleased with the response received at his booth.

Says Mr Phua, “We have the opportunity to showcase our key collections and garnered significant promising leads from the Asia Pacific region”.

What keeps exhibitors and visitors come back to these fairs are the quality and variety of products on display as well as the business networking opportunities available. Both shows do have a lot to offer and compete head-to-head in terms of size, crowd and product categories.
